Comparison of Life Notice Between Brother Ⅳ OEM Chip and Apex Replacement Chip

Description: When one of the ink cartridges is exhausted, printer displays "Cannot Detect Ink Volume", however, it doesn't indicate which cartridge should be replaced.

    Reason:
As customer replaces with a new set of cartridges (compatible cartridge installed with Apex Replacement chips) before the old ones are used up, printer will display as above once the replaced ones are exhausted.

    Solution:

The ink consumption details can be checked from computer drive.

    Conclusion:
①     Replace with a new set of cartridges before the old ones are used up, printers installed with Apex replacement chips will display"Cannot Detect Ink Volume" once the replaced ones are exhausted. At this time, it is impossible to know which color is exhausted. The indicated color will be displayed when the computer driver is installed.
②     In the same situation (replace ink cartridges before the printer prompts "Replace Ink"), printers installed with OEM chips displays "Cannot Detect Ink Volume" when ink is exhausted. The indicated color displays "?" on both printer screen and computer drive.
③     Please don't replace the ink cartridges before the printer prompts "Replace Ink", otherwise it may affect the printing experience.

Comparison of Computer Drive Notice Between Brother Ⅳ OEM Chip and Apex Replacement Chip In Installation Display.

    Conclusions:
① "Replace Ink" displays on both printers installed with OEM chips or Apex replacement chips.

② Apex chip information is modified to "Non Brother Ink" in accordance with Brother's White Paper. "?" is a symbol that appears on printer after Apex replacement chips are installed. Installing with Apex replacement chip, "?" will be shown on printer and the remaining ink level and remaining page yield can't be displayed. However, the remaining ink level can be displayed on computer drive where the remaining page yield is still missing. After doing relevant tests, the modified replacement chips can be used normally on its corresponding printers.
