Technical Support

    Error:
More than one ink tank of the following color is installed. Error code "1681"

    Reason:
Repeatedly installed multiple chips of the same color.

    Solution:
    Replace with correct chips.

    close

    Error:
"Replace empty cartridges or press OK to use Black ink only."

    Reason:
The error is basically the same as the "Ink cartridge depleted", but it is caused by the difference in the page coverage. If the page coverage is small, then the printer will report this error.

    Solution:
The solution is consistent with the "Ink cartridge depleted" above.

    close

Error: The replacement chip's page yield is insufficient.

    Reason 1
The high coverage of the printed document caused the page yield is insufficient.
    Abnormal Performance:
The number of pages printed by the customer cannot reach the page yield of the replacement chip or the toner level jumps to "Low toner".
    Solution:
The number of pages printed by the customer cannot reach the output of the replacement chip. Printer prints white paper ahead of time is due to the document type coverage printed by the customer is higher than 5%, which results its toner consumption is higher and its toner level is relatively fast decline. Thus, the number of printed pages cannot reach the replacement chip's published page yield.

    Reason 2
Due to abnormal toner detection, the replacement chip's data will be rewritten after testing that there is no sufficient toner remaining in the toner cartridge. Meanwhile, its toner level will change accordingly.
    Abnormal Performance:
The phenomenon of toner jump appears during printing when the printer which owns toner detection device detects that there is no sufficient toner remaining in the toner cartridge and the chip data is rewritten.
    Solution:
It is recommended that customers do not install empty toner cartridge or unfilled toner cartridge on the printer to test. The phenomenon of toner jump is easily appeared on the printers which own toner detection device.

    close

Error: The printer screen displays "Replace Toner Cartridge Press the Menu Key to check supplies".

    Reason:
The replacement chip has reached its useful life.

    Solution:
Replace it with a brand new toner cartridge and replacement chip.

Error Message for different kind of printers:
    ① Black and white printer's screen displays "Set the toner cartridge correctly";
    ② Color printer's screen displays "Tnr Set Error:K/C/M/Y";
③ The kind of printer without screen displays "Cartridge Indicator" or "!".

    Reason:
①There is bad contact between the replacement chip and the printer probe.
②The replacement chip's model and region are not applicable with the printer.

    Solution:
①Check whether the replacement chip's model and region are suitable for the printer (it can be confirmed by seeing the laser marking code printed on the replacement chip).
②Check whether there are foreign objected covered on the replacement chip's contacts and whether the printer probe is damaged or deformed.
③If there are no foreign objected covered on the replacement chip's contacts and the printer probe is in good condition, then the bad contact between the chip and printer probe many be caused by unmatched cartridge mold or some other reasons. Customers can color the surface of the chip contacts with a whiteboard marker, then install and pull out the cartridge to observe the scratch appeared on the chip contacts. According to this, you can judge whether the chip contacts and printer probe are good contact.

    Remark:
SP 100 series printer probe is fragile and easy to be deformed, which causes the printer can't recognized the chip (the damaged and deformed probes are often caused by that the cartridge without chip is installed in the printer). As the pictures shown below:

    close

Error Message: "Toner Cartridge Setting Error"

    Reason:
①The replacement chip is bad contact or it is not installed.
②Installing a chip with unmatched color or mixing the installation of cartridges in different color.
③The replacement chip's model does not match up with printer.
    ④Data exceptions in chips.

    Solution:
①Check the surface of the replacement chip to see if it was blocked by foreign objects. The machine probe may be distorted or damaged to lead to replacement chip bad contact. You can judge if the probes are damaged by a "scratch test".

Remark: This series of cartridge's hopper exit is easy to accumulate toner (see below pictures). By installing and pulling out cartridge, the machine probe and chip contactor are easy to stick with toner to lead to the poor contact. It is recommended to confirm if the chip surface has residual toner before installation.
②Checking the laser marking code on the replacement chip to confirm if the chip model and color are matched.
③If the "error" still exists by processing the above operations, it is recommended to return back the abnormal chip to Apex for analysis.

Error: Remove shipping lock from XXX cartridge (XXX means different color), please remove the shipping lock.

    Reason:

①When installing new cartridge, the printer will detect the capacitance between the powder feeding roller and the developer roller. When the capacitance is lower than 10PF (the data will be slightly different according to different printers), the printer will make error report "Remove shipping lock from XXX cartridge" ("XXX" means different color), that is, please remove the shipping lock. When installing used chips, the printer will not make such error report.

②The shipping lock/decoding lock is a part of the cartridge. Its function is to separate the OPC from the developer roller to make preparation for toner detection. If the OPC cannot be separated from the developer roller, it will lower the induced voltage of the developer roller during toner detection. Thus, the printer will consider that the capacitance is low between the developer roller and the powder feeding roller, which will affect the accuracy of the toner detection.

③The reason of this error is that the printer will detect the toner volume according to the capacity between the powder feeding roller and the developer roller; When the printer considers that under any circumstance, the capacitance of the OEM new cartridge will not be lower than 10PF and if the capacitance of the new cartridge is lower than 10PF, the printer will see it as abnormal, believing that it is caused by the failed separation between the OPC and the developer roller. The printer will give a hint to decode locking. However, if using the used cartridge, the printer considers that the capacitance can be lower than 10 PF, so after installing the used chip, even the printer detects the capacitance is lower than 10 PF, it will not make error report.

Error: Insufficient or higher print page yield than OEM page yield

    Reason:
Due to abnormal coverage, there is a deviation in the printed page yield.

①After a period of printing, it is sometimes found that the page yield on the status page is insufficient or higher than the OEM page yield. The main reason for this is the abnormal coverage of printing. The published page output of an OEM cartridge is calculated based on the number of pages that can be printed at 5% page coverage. If the printed coverage is higher than 5%, the number of printable pages will decrease. And it won’t reach the estimated page yield and the remaining amount of toner will reach 0% in advance. In addition, if the print coverage is less than 5%, the number of printable pages will be higher than the OEM page yield.

②The print coverage is determined by the type of document being printed and the detected page coverage. The abnormal toner output (more or less decided by toner flow) will cause the printer to detect the print coverage and the actual document coverage rate is different. Then the cartridge won’t reach the OEM page yield or the printer shows there is still some toner remained in the cartridge, but the toner inside has been exhausted.

Error: The status page shows the toner level is low or the amount of toner displayed on the printer is insufficient

    Reason:
The amount of toner in the cartridge is insufficient or the printer abnormally detects the amount of toner and forcibly rewrites the chip information.

    Solution:
①Check whether there is an abnormality in the cartridge’s toner detection unit, causing abnormal toner detection and rewriting the chip information.
②Check whether the seal on the cartridge has been pulled out. If it is not pulled out, it will cause the printer to misjudge the toner is insufficient and rewrite the chip information.

Error Code: "10.00.00 Supply memory error"

    Reason:
This error code indicates abnormal communication between the chip and the printer, resulting the chip can be recognized.

    Solution:
①Check whether the test environment is good. And the static interference leads to wrong communication between the chip and the printer.
②Check whether the chip matches the printer and whether the other model chips are installed on the cartridge.

    Error Code:  "10.10.0X"
    Remarks: X=0, 1, 2, 3, 4. 0 stands for BK, 1stands for C, 2 stands for M, 3stands for Y, 4 stands for drum unit.

    Reason:
There is no communication between the printer and the chip, resulting the chip cannot be recognized.

①Improper chip placement, chip contacts blocked by foreign objects, and damaged drum unit cause poor contact between the chip contacts and the printer.
②Chip data cannot be recognized by the printer.

    Solution:
①Check whether the printer probe is in good condition and ensure that the probe is not deformed or damaged. Before install the chip on the printer, you can color the chip contacts with a roller pen, then install and take out the chip to observe the scratch left by the printer probe. According to this, you can judge whether the printer probe and the chip are in good contact (use a deep-colored roller pen).
②Check whether the chip is correctly placed in the tested cartridge’s chip slot (such as misalignment, low position, etc.).
③Note if there are other printers of the same model. If so, it is advisable to test the problem chip on another printer to see if the same problem occurs.

Error Code: "Supply margin error" or "10.0X.10 Supply memory error"
    Remarks: X=0, 1, 2, 3, 4. 0 stands for BK, 1stands for C, 2 stands for M, 3stands for Y, 4 stands for drum unit.

    Reason:
Abnormal communication between the chip and the printer or data exception.

    Solution:
①Check if there is a problem with the chip installation and if there is a chip installed in the printer.
②The printer reports the "Supply margin error" or "10.0X.10 Supply memory
error" during normal printing. An abnormal operation is detected to cause the printer output an abnormal command and rewrite the chip information, which made the chip unrecognized.
③If the tested chip is installed on a color printer, there may be chip mixing installation or two chips with the same color. Then the printer will report "Supply margin error".
④When the above three kinds of solutions can’t solve the problem, you can send back the abnormal chip for data analysis. Apex will continue to improve product quality based on your feedbacks.

Erro Code:  "Toner Cartridge Detached"  093-97X (X can be 0, 1, 2, and 3, which represents Y, M, C, and BK respectively) (The error notice is shown below)

    Phenomenon:
The replacement chip does not contact well with the printer probes and the printer notes with "Toner Cartridge Detached  093-97X" notice (X can be 0, 1, 2, and 3, which represents Y, M, C, and BK respectively).

    Analysis:
①The chip is not correctly installed or its surface is dirty which causes bad contact with the probes, making the printer note "Toner Cartridge Detached  093-97X" (X can be 0, 1, 2, and 3, which represents Y, M, C, and BK respectively).
②Since the Dell S2825 printer probes can be easily damaged and after installing the toner cartridge many times, the probes' contact positions might change. You can judge if the probes are damaged by a "scratch test".

    Scratch Test:
Paint the chip contactors with a water-based marker and then install the chip in the printer to confirm if the probes contact well with the chip according to the scratches on the chip.
①The scratches are exactly on the chip's contactors because the probes contact well with the chip as the following picture shown:

②The scratches exceed the extent of the contactors (see the blue arrow marks) because the probes contact badly with the chip as the following picture shown:

    Conclusion:
Because of the probes' contact problem, Apex has lengthened the contactors' to avoid the printer's error notice occurred which is caused by bad contact between the chip and the printer. The scratches of the OEM chip and Apex chip are shown as follows:
